Weekly Wondering: Finding Contentment

Hello all! I'm finally back after a long break. Our third addition to the family arrived this past March and it's been a rollercoaster, but we are having a lot of fun as a family of 5.


It has now been 8 months of weekly reflections in my Weekly Wondering Journal, and there has been a consistent theme I've noticed: How to be content. I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles with contentment in this world of "I want this, I want that." Practicing gratitude does help, but I have a feeling there's more to finding deep contentment.


"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. [12] I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. [13] I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13 NIV

When Paul talks about being content in Philippians 4:11-13, he says that he has learned the "secret of being content in any every situation." It truly does seem like an elusive secret that flits away anytime I think that I've finally mastered it.
